We don't need a new museum in Bristol

Monday, June 29, 2009, 07:00

What a great success the Banksy exhibition is. Large crowds, amusing and original exhibits, and a real buzz. It's great and long may it last.

It does make me wonder why, though, we need another museum at all when we can put on something like this.

The Museum of Bristol is costing a fortune and is delayed by several years, and no amount of spin and excuses can disguise that.

So why do we need it, when we can already put on fantastic exhibitions at the City Museum & Art Gallery?

I simply cannot see the need for a new and different museum. We should have refurbished the much-loved Industrial Museum. It would have saved a small fortune and have been open already for years.

George Blythe,

Bristol.

Have your say

Manchester is getting a congestion charge, and Bristol could also have one by 2014? Do you think it will work in Bristol?
