Four-goal Chris sparks big victory for De Veys

BRISTOL & AVON LEAGUE: Four goals from Chris Devey set up an 11-0 home romp by leaders De Veys against Iron Acton Reserves, who were only one down to John Bale's strike at the interval.

Bale completed his hat-trick in the second half, while Connor Walker (2), Ben Garland and Nicky Nutland completed the rout.

Second-placed Carmel United came from behind to win 4-3 at Bideford OB, who went 2-0 up through Scott Summers and a Lee Dibble penalty.

Carmel hit back with strikes by Lee Burden (penalty), Rafael Burke, Kenninke Oni and Rino Costa after Dibble had missed a second penalty for the Old Boys, whose other scorer was Andy Scott, also with a spot-kick.

Greyfriars Athletic B moved off the bottom of the table after a 5-2 home victory over Bradley Stoke A, their first win of the season.

Jamie Eager and Livou Rodeani were on target for the hosts in reply to strikes by Nick Martin (2), John Kilgannon, Mark Thomas and Pete Gainey.

Francis McLeary gave FC Bristol the lead away to British Royal SC, who hit back to grab a 3-2 victory thanks to Paul Smith, James Mallett and Shaun Norris (penalty).

McLeary struck again for the visitors, who pressed in vain for a late equaliser in a lively clash between the league's new teams.

Nick Hamlin fired Golden Hill Reserves in front at Lawrence Rovers Reserves, who recovered to win 5-1 with goals from James Weston (2), Darren Collett (2) and Chris Wass.

Chris Shepherd slotted in a late penalty equaliser for Wessex Wanderers A to deny his former Long Ashton colleagues victory in a 2-2 draw.

Dan Coles put Long Ashton ahead, Mark Hooper equalised for Wessex, who trailed off again to a goal from Mike Croker before Shepherd struck to earn a point.
