Bristol charity's £2,000 target for rescued dog's quarantine

Friday, October 30, 2009, 07:00

A Bristol animal charity needs to raise £2,000 to pay for a rescued puppy's quarantine fees.

The National Animal Sanctuaries Support League, set up by Evening Post Gold Star winner Lesley McMahon, is appealing for donations of money or goods to raise cash for the pup.

Twelve-week-old Sambuca was rescued from travellers in Cardiff.

After a veterinary exam it was found she was an illegal import and had not been inoculated against rabies.

Her new owner faced putting her to sleep or paying the bill for a six-month spell in quarantine.

He decided to contact the charity's shop, Fidos, in Lawrence Weston, for their help.

Mrs McMahon said: "We've had a snooker table donated and children are coming in with their pocket money especially for her.

"Even if we don't get the donations we would never let her down."

If you think you can help with cash, clothing and even rag donations, call 982 2113.
