Wall of mirrors to celebrate Bristol University's 100th
The artwork features 76 vertical polished steel plates sited at the base of a slope leading down from the Royal Fort House in Royal Fort Gardens, an area owned by the university but which is open to the public.
Artist Jeppe Hein hopes that visitors will be encouraged to walk among the steel plates to experience an optical illusion which multiplies the reflections of people and surrounding plants and trees.
Mr Hein was commissioned to create the artwork after an extensive selection procedure which drew up a shortlist of artists from across the world.
He said that 'Follow Me' was inspired by Bristol University "as a place of self-discovery", as well as by the history of the gardens.
"It has been an honour to create a piece in celebration of Bristol University's centenary, especially in such an inspirational setting," he said.
