Screening test to help prevent diabetics from going blind
All diabetics over the age of 12 receive an annual retinal screening test to help prevent retinopathy which can cause blindness if untreated.
Currently patients receive annual retinal screening tests at their GP practices.
NHS Bath and North East Somerset wants to hear from people on how to improve the retinal screening tests and is staging a public open day at The Brunswick Room, Guildhall, Bath on Monday November 9 between 11am and 2pm.
"As part of an improved service we could offer tests more freely at health care community settings such as Bath NHS Healthcare Centre, at the Riverside, Keynsham Healthcare Centre, St Martin's Hospital, Bath or Paulton Community Hospital," said Karen Grant, NHS B&NES Commissioning Project Manager.
"In developing the retinal screening service we want to consult with people so that we take on board the things that matter to them and reflect this in the new service that we provide."
If you have any queries or comments about the service please contact Karen Grant on 01225 831635 or write to NHS B&NES, St Martins Hospital, Midford House, Clara Cross Lane, Bath, BA1 5RP.
