This is Bristol

I F Bristol City Councillor Gary Hopkins is going to carry on his work as transport supremo, it would be a good idea not to flout the parking laws in the city he represents.

Unfortunately, when you have an attitude of do as I say, not do what I do, it shows people you are in the job for yourself and not the greater good of the people you represent.

Kevin Hill,

via email.

(Editor: Mr Hopkins has said he will make a donation to charity equivalent to the fine he would have received for parking on double yellow lines.)

Further to the story in Friday's Evening Post about Gary Hopkins.

I am annoyed he is able to get away with a fine on a technicality that will not stand up in court based on photographic evidence not being acceptable?

Why have people like myself been fined for minor speeding offences, but this speeding fine was based on photographic evidence from a speed camera?

Where is the right and wrong?

Name and address supplied.

“Unfortunately this is just typical of Bristol City Council. Do as I say, no as I do.

Constantly penalising anyone who dares to even try to use a car with the same old line 'Public Transport and Cycling should be the first option'. Not everyone wants to cycle and we all know about the state of the 'public transport' system in Bristol.

What everyone fails to realise is that BCC created their own personal car park on the site where the Environment Agency is being built. Always full with cars. So everyone BUT them should use public transport then.”
