Fire investigators remain on standby after George and Dragon 'arson'
FIRE crews remain on standby to complete their investigation of a blaze at a Redfield pub which is believed to have been started deliberately.
The fire at the George and Dragon took 40 firefighters to get under control early yesterday morning and left Church Road closed at rush hour. The road remained partially blocked for much of the day as services attempted to secure the front of the building which was deemed unstable.
This morning, Avon Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Darren Bane said regular inspections were made of the property up until 4.25pm yesterday when crews managed to dampen the last of the fire.
After another inspection at 10pm conditions were deemed too dangerous to send in an investigator. The service hopes to carry out a full investigation later today.
