Three people were left trapped and injured after a crash in Bristol.

All the emergency services were sent to the Long Ashton by-pass this morning after the Renault car they were travelling in spun off the road and ended up wedged between a sign and a tree.

The woman driver and her two passengers, one man and a woman, all believed to be in their 40s, were freed from the wreckage after fire fighters cut away one side of the car.

Paramedics and fire crews got the injured onto spinal boards and they were taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary to be treated for suspected head, back and neck injuries.

The accident happened as the car was travelling out of Bristol but both carriageways were closed while emergency teams treated the injured and removed the car.
