The director of Bristol's Colston Hall steps into the West Country Life spotlight

What makes the West Country "home" to you?

I've been living here five years and have family nearby. What I like most about the West Country is the creativity that bubbles around here.

How do you relax?

Cycling and reading.

When and where are you happiest?

In Bristol, right now.

What's your earliest memory?

Tripping over a balloon and cutting my bottom lip.

What makes you laugh?

Politics.

What do you dream of?

Cheese and cake.

What is your greatest fear?

Never having cheese or cake again.

Who do you admire, living or dead, and why?

Anybody who has the courage to change and challenge the status quo.

What is your worst habit?

Cheese and cake.

What posession could you not live without?

My MacBook Pro laptop.

What is your greatest frustration?

That culture and creativity are not truly valued in this country.

What is your favourite book?

The Player of Games by Ian M Banks.

What is your favourite word?

Yes.

What would you choose to eat and drink at your last meal?

This is getting silly; cheese and cake.

What or who is the love of your life?

Music.

Who would you invite to your dream dinner party?

Astor Piazzolla, Joni Mitchel, Keith Richards and Charlie Mingus.

What law would you introduce if you were in charge?

One that introduces well-maintained cycle lanes on every road.

What single thing would improve your life?

More time.

What is your greatest achievement?

Being part of the team that delivered the first phase of the Colston Hall development on time and on budget.

What talent do you wish you had?

Teleportation.

How would you like to be remembered?

Lovingly.

The Colston Hall is opening the doors of its new foyer building to the public next Saturday, May 16, to give people a sneak preview of the new building before it is finished.

Visitors on the day will be invited to see the new cafe bars, education spaces and foyer performance space before the foyer is fully kitted out and officially opened in September.

Taster music sessions and performances will also give visitors a flavour of what's to come and a chance to get involved with making music.

The whole day is free and open to everyone from 10am-7pm.
