Thursday, November 26, 2009, 11:00

Train passengers travelling in the Bristol area faced delays this morning following a death on the line in Devon.

The discovery of a body on the line in Ivybridge at just after 6am meant First Great Western trains were delayed as they made their way into Bristol through North Somerset.

A British Transport Police spokesman said: "BTP officers and colleagues from Devon and Cornwall police attended Davids Lane, Ivybridge, at 6.07am this morning after receiving a report that a train had hit a person on the railway line.

"Upon attendance officers discovered a body.

"The incident is being treated as unexplained and inquiries to establish the man's identity and the exact circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing."
