Mother's tribute to Bristol boy killed in hit-and-run
The 15-year-old from Hartcliffe was knocked down on Tuesday evening and died later in hospital from head injuries.
His mother Kim Atkinson described her son as a "crème egg".
She said: "He was hard on the outside but a real softie in the middle.
"There was a lot more to Troy than met your eye. He had a brilliant sense of humour. It was infectious and that is one of the reasons why he had friends everywhere.
"Above everything else he was a very sociable boy enjoying life as a normal teenager. He loved girls, music and fashion. He loved clothes and always wanted to look his best.
"He was a natural athlete and a real team player determined to make the best of himself.
"Everyone keeps saying how well mannered and respectful he was. This makes me very proud. He was very loyal and caring. Everyone who knew Troy well will be devastated."
Troy played rugby for Nailsea and Backwell and previously attended Gateway Special School, Withywood School and Activate Special School.
The family would like to thank Troy's friends for their messages of support at this difficult time.
Police are still appealing for witnesses to the incident which happened in Penn Street, Bristol, near to the Harvey Nichols store at about 7pm.
A 28-year-old man has now been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody while police enquiries continue.
