Bristol teen's gun terror ordeal
The 16-year-old, who asked not to be named, says he was walking home in Henbury with his girlfriend late in the evening on June 27 when he was approached by a man.
After pushing the man away and 'giving him some lip' he says a pistol was aimed at his head.
Racing away, the boy says he tried desperately to avoid the gunman's aim while fearing for his and his girlfriend's safety.
He was found screaming in Standfast Road by concerned residents after the assailant had run off.
Armed police were called and swooped on an address in Swanmoor Crescent. Later, a man was arrested on suspicion of making threats to kill.
The incident was first reported in the Bristol Evening Post last week. Now the boy has told how he is still suffering "flashbacks".
He said: "There was no reason for it at all. Even if I'd done something bad there was no need to point a gun at my head.
At its closest, the gun was about 18 inches away from my head. I just ran from it but was looking at it all the time, trying to avoid his aim. After my dad came out he just ran off but since it happened I've had quite a lot of flashbacks about it."
Henbury resident Lisa Llewellyn, 44, said: "I heard a lot of screaming which sounded like a girl but I looked through the window and saw it was a boy I knew. The next thing I knew there were police swarming everywhere. The boy was in such a state of shock, it was terrible. He was screaming so much that I thought he was going to have a heart attack.
"I went over to comfort him because I knew him and he was saying that the man was going to kill him and that every time he shut his eyes he could see the gun. He was absolutely petrified. I felt so sorry for him, I wanted to bring him in and look after him. He is a lovely lad and didn't deserve this."
An Avon and Somerset police spokesman said: "Officers, including armed personnel, searched an address in Swanmoor Crescent in connection with an incident in Standfast Road, Henbury, on Saturday, June 27 at approximately 11.30pm, where an altercation took place and a 16-year-old youth was threatened with a man armed with some sort of weapon."
● A 31-year-old man arrested in connection with the incident is on police bail.
