Can you help me trace my friend?
WHEN I was a boy, I lived with my parents and younger brother in Bishop's Stortford, Hertfordshire. About the time of the end of World War Two, when I was eight, my best friend was a boy called John Stone.
John lived with his mother in Grange Road. I lived with my parents and younger brother on the corner of Grange Road and London Road. John and I used to get on very well together.
I recall that, unlike most boys who wore shoes or sandals, John used to wear boots. He sometimes wore a flat cap, a boy's version of a man's cap. I don't remember John having a father or mentioning him.
Then John and his mother moved house – to the Bristol area. I never saw or heard of him again.

I have often thought of John over the years but it has taken me nearly 70 years to make an inquiry. I know it is a long shot but, if he still lives in the Bristol area, or has any family or friends that do, I should be very grateful to hear from him or them.
