The Bristol Post

WHAT a fantastic piece by Jeremy Clarke, right, of the Bristol Stop the War coalition (The Post Speakers' Corner, February 15).

We have grown accustomed to politicians telling lies. But when those lies cause more than a million deaths, and ruin millions more lives, that is shocking beyond words.

It is no wonder that the multi-millionaire Tony Blair, for all his wealth, attracts protests wherever he tries to appear in public.

More than six hundred British deaths, all to make a fortune for one apology of a politician.

It worries me that we have not learned the lessons of Iraq and Afghanistan.

We still try to interfere in other countries internal affairs. Mali is the latest.

And our politicians haven't changed either, like for example William Hague. He frightens me.

Every time I hear Hague speak I feel he'd like to start at least four wars all around the globe by the end of next week if he could.

It is people like Jeremy Clarke that we have to listen to, to keep being reminded that these wars are wrong, that at all times we should be looking for peaceful outcomes, or at the very least keeping our noses out of other peoples' business.

Well done Jeremy and keep up the good work.

“notice the venom and the frightening spleen from people who do not have to make difficult decisions. Blair might have been wrong he might even have been seduced by Bush. Saddam was killing millions of people he isn`t any more! Libya, then Syria, what should anyone do about these Dictators? Egypt and Tunisia trying desperately to sort things out. whilst Iran is threatening to go Nuclear.
All we get are sit on the shelf naive people calling oue ELECTED Politicians of REASONABLE political persuasions, liars and charlatans. Rightly or wrongly Churchill, Thatcher and Blair made a difference. Millions are dying throughout the world. These `mind our own business` people have no solutions and nothing positive to say.. Perhaps a little Respect for people regardless of their personal wealth would not go amiss.”
