The heat is on during Pill school's food festival
Teachers were given the chance to show off their culinary talents during a week-long food festival.
Pupils, parents and staff at St Katherine's School in Pill have been invited to cook up a storm during a "Taste of St Katherine's" festival, getting involved in cooking demonstrations, eating an organic breakfast and holding a Ready, Steady, Cook-style competition.
Students have also been enjoying demonstrations from Thai and Jamaican chefs and have organised their own harvest festival.
The school has been working with the Food for Life Partnership to transform its food culture and that of its community by reconnecting the children with growing, cooking, eating and appreciating climate-friendly, healthy, real food.
The school is currently working towards the Food for Life Partnership gold mark, which is an award which recognises schools which use practical learning experiences to introduce young people to the food they eat, following the journey from field to plate.
St Katherine's School head teacher Stephanie Quayle said: "Becoming a Food for Life flagship school and community allows us to work with a variety of important partners to strengthen cooking and growing food as part of our curriculum and we have developed a programme of work and a series of activities to impact on all students.
"The food festival is something our students suggested and we think it is a fantastic way of involving students, staff and our community, while learning and having fun at the same time."
The Food for Life Partnership is a network of schools and local communities across England working towards transforming food culture.
