FEW would argue that this year's award for Julian Kinsey is not richly deserved. The head of Bond Pearce's banking team has built up a fearsome reputation and he is widely seen as one of the best lawyers not only in town but also in the region.

No stranger to award ceremonies, Julian has been recognised both nationally and regionally in recent years for the high quality of his work.

Ever since he qualified, Julian has specialised in corporate and finance work and he has built up an impressive client list. He currently acts for a number of the major banks and other financial institutions.

Julian also has considerable experience of acting for borrowers and lenders on projects involving a mix of public and private finance – particularly the inter-creditor issues that are linked to complicated funding structures.

Examples of some of the projects he has been involved with include The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth, Cattedown Regeneration scheme, also in Plymouth, and Bournemouth Library.

Major successes this year also include advising on the management buy-out at IPL Group, with Bond Pearce acting as legal adviser to Barclays on the complicated and high-profile deal.

Julian has also built up a huge store of experience to call on when it comes to advising banks, financial institutions and borrowers on financial transactions, particularly in acquisition and project finance.

He also has specialist expertise in the financing of the motor trade, and he advises Peugeot and Citroën.

He has also acted in a number of retail, office and leisure property development schemes for the major banks and institutions.

Julian also has a broad range of experience dealing in re-financing and re-structuring.

He is recognised as a leader in banking law by Chambers Guide to the UK Legal Profession and The Legal 500.
