2000: Steve Redgrave, at the age of 38, became the greatest Olympian in an endurance sport with a fifth consecutive gold medal as – alongside Matthew Pinsent, Tim Foster and James Cracknell – he led the coxless fours crew to victory at the Sydney Olympics.
2005: England defender Jonathan Woodgate scored an own goal and was sent off on his debut for Real Madrid.
