Wednesday, October 28, 2009, 07:00

Imperial Saints roared to an 8-2 Division I victory over Roman Glass with a superb display of finishing power.

They went 1-0 up inside 10 minutes through Daniel Caswell before Roman Glass equalised against the run of play following a perfect through pass and finish.

Imperial quickly retook the lead with goals from Mike Rimmer and Mitch Purnell to give them a 3-1 advantage at the interval.

Purnell struck again and, along with substitute Joe Sheppard, finished the game with a hat-trick before Roman Glass grabbed a late consolation goal.

Leaders Ashton Boys proved too strong for Shirehampton, winning 5-2 at Stoke Lodge Playing Fields.

Kyle Lambert, Pat Sausen, Liam Knight and Tom Chandler fired Yatton Athletic to a 4-2 victory over a hard-working Priory side, while centre-forward John Edwards scored the only goal in Cheddar Albion's 1-0 win over St George EIG, in which Cam Crook and Josh Cook shone for the victors.

Thornbury suffered a second mauling in a week, following their defeat by AXA by crashing 5-1 against Yate United in Division A. Yate's goals came from Craig Boyle, Lewis Spedding (2), Billy East and Simon Hopes, with Robbie Whittingham netting for Thornbury.

Jason Hallett was man-of-the- match for Hanham Athletic, who romped to a 4-2 victory at Yate Rangers.

Jamie Coole (2), Jason Hallett and Ed Parnell were the Hanham marksmen, while Ryan Brown and Stewart Banwell responded with the home side's two goals.

Olveston edged a closely-fought game with Ingleside 3-1, Chris Howard, who posed numerous problems for the opposition back four, and two Rob Olive strikes seeing them home and Chris Braywood netting Ingleside's consolation.
