Bowler Norman conquers Coalpit Heath

Bristol Youth Cricket League round-up:

Michael Norman took five wickets in an over – including a hat-trick – as he helped Winterbourne A to a 123-run win over Coalpit Heath B in Section C of the Under-15 League.

Norman finished with 6-8 from three overs, one of which was a maiden, as Coalpit Heath were dismissed for just 69 in pursuit of Winterbourne's total of 192-1.

Chris Kislingbury made an unbeaten 51 for the victors, with Callum Brown (52no) and Michael Norman (43no) also amongst the runs.

In Section A, S Warner hit 59 for Coalpit Heath (85-3) in their seven wicket win over Frampton Cotterell (84ao).

Section B saw Frenchay (118-2) beat Downend A (86ao) by 22 runs, while Pucklechurch (124-3) overcame Dyrham & Hinton (71ao) by 53 runs and Thornbury Blue (112-3) saw off Winterbourne B (97-6) by 15 runs.

In section D, Bishopston A enjoyed two victories in as many days – with Ryan Adams making a half-century on each occasion. He scored an undefeated 52 in his side's total of 158-5 as they beat Bristol West Indians (81-6) by 77 runs, then hit 53 as they posted 135-5 against Twyford House (95-8). Cyrus Craven also took 3-5 as Bishopston triumphed by 40 runs.

Nailsea (103-8) beat Knowle (78ao) by 25 runs in Section E, while Bishopston B's Jack Hird took 5-1 in four overs as Old Bristolians/Westbury were dismissed for just 69 before their game was abandoned.

Brislington (135-5) were 26-run winners against Hanham in Section F, while Subhan Razaq made 85 in Pak Bristolians' total of 135-7 before Winterbourne C were dismissed for just 57. Jabriel Farook took 3-6 and Patrick McNally 3-13 as Pak triumphed by 78 runs.

Bristol YMCA triumphed by 25 runs in the Bristol group final of the Nationwide Under-15 National Cup. Callum Murphy hit an unbeaten 51 as they posted 131-9 before restricting Bishopston A to 106-7, Mauro Scrafton taking 4-17.

In the South Gloucestershire group final, Winterbourne (76-5) were five-wicket winners against Chipping Sodbury B, while Stapleton are through to the third round of the Urban Windows Under-15 Cup after an eight-wicket win over Rockhampton.

Aiden Cousins took 3-20 and James Finch 3-13 as Rockhampton reached 96-9, then Callum Willis made an unbeaten 52 to help Stapleton to 101-2.

In the Under-17 League Section A, Leigh Dawson took 4-7 to help dismiss Almondsbury for 58 before Gloucester City/Winget reached 62-1 to win by nine wickets.

Old Down (38-1) also cruised to a nine-wicket victory against Rockhampton, who had been dismissed for only 36 with D Dimeley capturing 5-8.

Frampton Cotterell (102-3) beat Coalpit Heath (39ao) by 63 runs in Section B, while Frenchay (110ao) defeated Downend (82ao) by 28 runs.

In Section C, Lewis Pierre made 102 for Bristol West Indians (196-6), who beat Whitchurch (109-5) by 17 runs despite 46 from James Edwards.

Rockhampton (129ao) beat Pucklechurch (122ao) by seven runs in the third round of the South West Glass Under-17 Cup, while Cam (103-9) overcame Hawkesbury (63ao) by 40 runs in the first round of the Don Brooks Under-17 Plate. Tom Hancock took 4-9.

Coalpit Heath also progressed, beating Marshfield by 40 runs. C Maggs hit 53 as Coalpit Heath posted 138-2 and Marshfield were restricted to 119-4.

In the Under-13 League, there were wins in Section A for Thornbury Red (127-3) against Rockhampton (73-4), and Coalpit Heath A (127-3) against Patchway (80-9).

In Section B, Matt Taylor hit an undefeated 72 for Frenchay Red (142-5), who overcame Winterbourne B (53ao) by 89 runs. Raj Chudasama took 3-1 for Frenchay. Thornbury Blue (81-3) beat Bristol Phoenix (80-7) by seven wickets, while Chipping Sodbury A (145-5) beat Winterbourne B (85-7) by 60 runs.

Section C saw G Malin take 3-13 as Bradley Stoke (71-2) beat Thornbury Green (70-7) by eight wickets, while Elliott Gibbons (50no) and Jordan Ricketts (52no) helped Frenchay Blue post 181-3 as they beat Thornbury Green (55-8) by 126 runs.

Bitton (161-0) also had sizeable contributions from Jonathan Roberts (62no) and Adam Canning (47no) as they beat Whitchurch B (60ao) by 101 runs in Section D. In Section E, Bristol YMCA (125-5) overcame Shirehampton (103-7) by 22 runs. Rory Langdon made 50 for Shire while Max Heiberg-Gibbons took 4-14 for YMCA. Ben Waterman's 3-3 helped Twyford House (125-5) to a 27-run success against Stoke Bishop B (98ao).

Nafees hit an undefeated 72 as Pak Bristolians (158-3) beat Stapleton (105-8) by 53 runs in Section F, where Stoke Bishop (88-8) got past Knowle (85-5) by three runs.

Bedminster (119-3) were seven wicket winners against Lodway (117-2) in Section G, where Zack Rigby's unbeaten 49 helped Portishead (108-4) beat Nailsea B (91-3) by 17 runs.

Nailsea did make progress in the Frank Benner Under-13 Cup, however. They made 165-3 to win their third round tie against Shirehampton (83-7) by 82 runs.

Another unbeaten 49 by Zack Rigby helped Portishead (91-4) overcome Stapleton (89-9) by six wickets in their clash. Luke Shaddock took 6-13 for the victors.

Prevan Rajh impressed with bat and ball as he helped Stoke Bishop B win the Bristol group final in the MCC Spirit of Cricket Under-13 National Cup.

He made an unbeaten 30 as his side reached 104-3, then took 4-12 to help dismiss Bristol YMCA for 103 and record a seven-wicket victory.

In the Under-11 League Section A, Chris Butcher took 3-6 to help Chipping Sodbury A (113-8) beat Almondsbury (56ao) by 57 runs. Ben Makepeace made 26no for the winners, while Almondsbury's Harry Weston took 3-7.

Thornbury (123-4) beat Rockhampton (34ao) by 89 runs. Harry Wormwell made an unbeaten 26 and took 3-4 for Thornbury. Daniel Ali made an undefeated 25 while Josh Lintern captured 4-1 and Adam Marshall 3-1.

In Section B, Downend (130-2) defeated Chipping Sodbury (71-9) by 59 runs, with Harry Hughes and Ollie Peters both 25no. Downend (97-4) then bounced back against Frenchay (74ao) claiming a 23-run victory. Callum Loud made 27no for Downend, Jack Madge doing the same for Frenchay.

In Section C, Pak Bristolians chalked up 156-3 in their 57 run win over Stapleton. Idris Mahmood (28no) and Hanza Hussain (27no) gave Pak their platform, while S searle made 26 for Stapleton.

Bristol West Indians (110-6) had a 19-run victory against Carsons/Mangotsfield (91-9) with D Pierre making an unbeaten 27 and taking 3-17 for the victors. J Douglas returned 3-4.

Bishopston (123-5) saw off Phoenix West Indians (25ao) by 98 runs with S Hepburn taking 4-2, and Phoenix then suffered another defeat, this time by 57 runs, against Twyford House (128-2). Liam Bennett made an unbeaten 25 while Aaron Blake was 26no.

Bedminster (102-3) beat Bristol YMCA B (57ao) by 45 runs in Section E with G Ley making 28no and S Hedges 25no, while 3-24 from Jacob Richardson helped Stoke Bishop (118-9) beat Nailsea (82-6) by 46 runs.

In the second round of the Dave McCarthy Under-11 KO cup, Ben Slade's unbeaten 28 helped Winterbourne A (137-7) beat Patchway (49-3) by 88 runs, while Amber Day hit an unbeaten 26 and then ran out two batsmen with direct hits as Coalpit Heath (117-4) beat Bristol Phoenix by 73 runs.

In the other tie, Thornbury (114-2_ beat Chipping Sodbury (56ao) by 58 runs.
