Go green and go for free
People who go green and travel to Wraxall's Tyntesfield Estate by foot, bike or public transport, can get in for free this weekend.
The National Trust is offering free entry to the Gothic mansion as part of its 'green travel' weekend (June 13 and 14).
Tyntesfield is only seven miles south west of Bristol with good public transport links.
Tyntesfield visitor services and enterprises manager, Rebecca Aubrey-Fletcher, said: "We like to encourage as many of our visitors as possible to try greener ways of getting to Tyntesfield.
"It's good for the environment, reduces local traffic and can be a fun adventure too.
"The countryside is spectacular this time of year and taking in the views you wouldn't normally see from a car, whether it's from a train window or on a bicycle is really worth it.
"Some of the roads nearby are quite busy and are not all suitable for small children on bicycles for example, so we always advise people to be careful, use designated paths and plan their route."
To gain free entry those who travel by train or bus should keep their bus tickets as proof of transport.
For those arriving on foot or by bike, muddy boots or a bicycle in hand will suffice.
National Trust members who already take advantage of free entry can benefit from a £2 discount on purchases in the shop or food kiosk.
Anyone travelling from Bristol who wants company or a little support can join the Bristol Cycling Campaign's Bristol – Tyntesfield cycle ride on June 14.
The 20-mile ride is free to join and has two start points – the Arnolfini (near Prince Street bridge) at 10am or the Clifton Suspension Bridge (Clifton side) at 10.30am.
And it's not just this weekend that going green can visitors money.
On any open day, Tyntesfield offers a £2 discount on admission or shop purchase to everyone who travels to Tyntesfield by bike, on foot or by public transport.

“Poor little old ladies hiking up steep public footpaths with dangerous crumbling stone walls, and prams getting up steep steps from the Bristol Road is more like a free ticket to hospital than Tyntesfield.”
