Have your say on Keynsham town plan

Saturday, November 07, 2009, 07:00

The steering group for Keynsham's latest Town Plan have drawn up a questionnaire for local residents.

The questionnaire comprises 30 questions covering economic development and enterprise, environment, sustainability and climate change, safer communities, stronger communities, children and young people, and health and well being.

It will be taken out into the community by members of the steering group who will meet a variety of groups and individuals.

The responses to the questionnaire will form the basis for a second questionnaire which will go out across the town.

Five years ago Keynsham Town Council, with the help of committed residents, produced a Town Plan with a vision for the way forward and a list of services and aspirations was included.

Some of the wishes have been fulfilled, some have not and some may be in the future.

Since 2005 there have been other developments which could potentially have a big impact of Keynsham such as the forthcoming closure of Cadbury's, the Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS), new homes in South West Keynsham and the redevelopment of the centre.

The Town Council believe that the time has come to refresh the Town Plan to take account of these developments.

An initial meeting was held in June and from those present a steering group was formed to take the process forward. The steering group is chaired by Dr Peter Roberts, a long term resident and the rest of the group is made up if councillors, representatives from local community groups and residents.

If you would like to complete a questionnaire copies can be obtained from the Town Council offices, and Keynsham Library.

The closing date for the return of the questionnaire is December 15 and all forms can be returned to the Town Council Office, 15-17 Temple Street, Keynsham, BS31 1HF.

With an increase in thuggish behaviour blighting Bristol's streets should the government be doing more to tackle ASBO culture?
