Ryall's dash back from Spain pays off with Burnham win
The Players Club man arrived at his Portishead home after midnight following a creditable 15th-placed finish in the Benahavis Masters at La Quinta.
Bristol's Gordon Brand Jnr came close to winning for the first time on the Senior Tour, but lost a play-off at the second extra hole against Carl Mason after both had carded seven-under-par 206, five better than Ryall.
Ryall, 51, was up early the next day to compete in the fourth pro-am at Burnham and Berrow.
There was no suggestion of tiredness as he raced to four under par after five holes, making birdies at the third and fourth, and his ace was with an eight-iron at the fifth.
He picked up another shot at the eighth, but the back nine, as usual, proved much tougher as the breeze increased.
He shed shots at the ninth, 13th and 17th, but made a lengthy par putt at the last for two-under-par 69.
This brought a two-shot advantage over Simon Stevenson (Taunton and Pickeridge), who made five birdies and five bogeys in a roller-coaster round.
Trevor Jones (Hambrook), the consistent former Welsh professional champion, was third on 72, followed a shot behind by David Haines (Brean) and Steve Ritchie (Farrington).
Sam Sullivan, the Gloucestershire county youngster, was the outstanding player in the winning Woodspring team, led by club professional Kevin Pitts.
The one-handicapper made an eagle and four birdies to help team-mates Roger Scarrott and John Pickett to a 14-under total of 128.
They were early starters among the 23-team field and only briefly threatened by Filton pro Daryl Kelley's team of Paul Hotchkiss, James Parker and Rich Collins, who carded 130.
European Tour player David Dixon led James Symons, Mark Popham and Stuart Sully into third place on 132.
This was Ryall's second win in 10 days as he was the only player to better par at Cleeve Hill on a tough day over the course set above Cheltenham. His one-under 71 brought a three-stroke success over home professional Dave Finch.
