Jake Lewis produced a man-of- the-match performance for St Aldhelms in their 7-2 win at Oldland in Avon Youth League Under-12 Division I.

The left winger was in fine form, scoring four first-half goals and completing his hat-trick after just 10 minutes.

Oldland pulled a goal back on the stroke of half-time but Saints continued to attack in the second half.

Defender Corey Taynton was moved into midfield and helped himself to two goals, while the hard- working Ryan Spillane also got on the scoresheet.

Oldland created some chances in the second half, but the Saints defence of Kye Callaghan, Matt Williams, skipper Sam Lewis and goalkeeper Ben Hodges all had steady games as their side ran out worthy winners.

Avon Athletic won 4-3 at St Nicholas but got off to the worst possible start, falling 2-0 down in the first five minutes.

They got the break they needed when Charlie Bakos played a long ball into the box for James Widdicks to lob the keeper, and Widdicks scored again to level things up at half-time.

Athletic came out in determined mood in the second half and, after a goalmouth scramble, Shane Goodman fired home from close range .

Saints responded straight from the kick-off by scoring their third goal to make it 3-3.

They had further chances but Jack Osbourne put in some great tackles to keep them out. And with five minutes left, Sergio Smith played a great ball into the box and Daniel Rugman rose above the defence to head home to give Avon all three points.

In Division II, FDS Bristol went on the goal rampage with an emphatic 5-0 victory over Coalpit Heath A at Netham Park.

FDS, who were seeking their fourth straight win, led 3-0 at the break thanks to Nathan Hall and a double strike from Keiran Baldie.

Despite the scoreline, Coalpit Heath always looked dangerous but were unable to find a way through the FDS defence, in which Romario Amos was outstanding. FDS continued to create chances and second-half strikes from Rashaun Keeling-Graham and Myles Cammock-Jones helped seal the victory.

In another Division II game, Bromley Heath United drew 1-1 with Brislington.

After a goalless first half in which the teams cancelled each other out, Brislington opened the scoring after some good interplay in midfield.

Bromley then moved up a gear and started to create more chances and birthday boy James Malby coolly placed a shot into the Brislington net that seemed to take forever to cross the line to deservedly put them back on level terms.

Bromley continued to push for the winning goal and Matt Weymouth twice went close with shots over the bar from outside the box.

The game was looking as if it was heading for a draw but Brislington had a great opportunity to snatch a dramatic victory when one of their strikers broke free with only Ross Baker to beat, but the Bromley keeper pulled off a fantastic point-blank save to ensure that honours ended even.

Longwell Green Sports beat AEK Boco 2-1. Green fell behind when Boco netted a penalty but second-half strikes from Stuart Harmer and Charlie Smith sealed victory.

Winterbourne United earned a narrow 2-0 victory over a battling Shirehampton Colts A side in Division III.

Defender Matthew Wragby scored his first goal of the season to put them on their way and a Ryan Evans strike settled the outcome.

Ashton Boys B drew 1-1 with Division V leaders Thornbury Falcons.

Ross Hawkins put Thornbury ahead, but Lonnie Coles levelled with five minutes left.

Rockleaze Rangers warmed up for this week's top-of-the-table clash with Thornbury with a comfortable 6-0 win at home to Downend Wanderers.

Rangers produced a good all-round team performance but Sonny Williams stole the headlines with an impressive display of front running capped by a well-taken hat-trick.

The other goals came from the prolific Jai Jethwa, midfield dynamo Cam Scott and the ever reliable Callum Martin.
