Gloucestershire's Taylor could miss Sussex clash
Taylor is definitely out of the four-day game with Kent starting at Beckenham today and is rated as 'unlikely' for Sunday's key clash against the Sharks.
Gloucestershire skipper Alex Gidman explained that Taylor suffered a hand injury during Friday's Twenty20 defeat to Somerset.
"Chris split the webbing on a hand and has stitches in it," said Gidman.
"I think they are due to be removed on Saturday, so clearly it is touch and go for the semi-final.
"At the moment, I would have to say it is unlikely he will be available."
If Taylor is missing, Gloucestershire stand to lose a key member of their side, not just in the middle order but in the field as well.
"That would be a serious blow because Chris has contributed a lot this season," said Gidman.
"But we would have players in form as options, including David Brown and using Steve Snell as a batsman."
Gidman, who himself has been out of the side with a back spasm, returns for the four-day fixture with promotion rivals Kent.
He is set to replace Taylor in what will be the only change to a Gloucestershire side that are unbeaten in four Championship games.
With the hot conditions likely to favour the slow bowlers, Richard Dawson could be in line to make his first Championship appearance of the season alongside Vikram Banerjee.
Gemaal Hussain is added to the squad.
