Weston General Hospital's specialist stroke unit has received generous gifts from the families of two former patients.

Draycott Ward received a new state-of-the-art wheelchair from the family of a patient who spent three months there before his death.

Norman Lawrence, aged 84, of Kingston Seymour, died last year and the chair was purchased with donations made in lieu of flowers at his funeral by family and friends.

The ward was also presented with an £800 syringe driver by the family of another patient who they nursed for many weeks.

Retired sheet metal worker William Osgood, aged 86, from Weston, was in Weston and Southmead Hospitals for five months before his death in January.
