Could figure be Mr Atkins Waller?
I'VE just seen this item about the ghost-like figure near Filton airfield.
Well, iIf I can mention, I discovered this shape back in 2010 after we at Filton Golf Club celebrated our Centenery in 2009.
Lots of facts were published in a book produced by the club relating to the people who'd founded the club in 1909.
I'd sent a picture and reference to the club secretary, suggesting the "ghost" might be that of John Atkins Waller. He was the original owner of land near Charlton village and was landlord and president of the, then new Filton Golf Club.

The opening of the courses drive-in took place in 1910.
I suggested that the outline shape was of a man in a bowler hat with a dark jacket and grey trousers as the attire of that era? Have a look-see... Perhaps we can give him the name as a bit of folk lore? Mystery solved?

“Mystery solved?
No mystery to solve - as has been pointed out many times, it's the shadow of a control tower.”
