The Bristol Kite Festival takes place in September after it was saved by an appeal to plug a £10,000 funding gap. Organiser Avil Baker decided to go ahead with the international event after receiving pledges of £7,500.
Small donations flooded in but the turning point came when the Al Farsi family of Kuwait, owners of the world's lasgest kite, stepped in.
The festival features spectacular flying displays, kite battles, synchronised routines to music, power kites as well as ground-based inflatables and air sculptures.
The festival will be supporting Marie Curie Cancer Care.
