THE UK's ultimate pure 60s nostalgia show The Solid Silver 60s is touring the UK and for one night only will perform at The Playhouse Theatre in Weston-super-Mare.

Now in its 28th year, The Solid Silver 60s Show, is set to be something quite special, so come along and witness the unforgettable talents of original artistes Mike Pender, Dave Berry, Wayne Fontana and special guests The Merseybeats with the musical backing of The New Amen Corner.

It was 50 years ago that The Searchers, The Merseybeats, Dave Berry and Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders released their debut singles and became five of the most popular artists of the 1960s.

Audiences are invited to take a trip down memory lane and relive the golden era of music as these stars celebrate 50 years in the business by performing their original hits.

Mike Pender can be heard on many of the hit records that went on to become 60's classics such as The Searchers debut single Sweets for My Sweet topping the charts in 1963, Sugar And Spice, Needles and Pins and Don’t Throw Your Love Away.

Mike's vocals and his equally distinctive 12-string 'jangly' guitar epitomised The Searchers sound and most observers considered the band to be the most successful and important group after the Beatles.

Along with the classic hits from Pender's many years with The Searchers, expect a blend of popular rock standards by classic artists such as Buddy Holly, The Drifters and Roy Orbison.

Dave Berry will also be bringing to the show his major hits including Memphis Tennessee, The Crying Game, My Baby Left Me, Little Things and Mama, which he has performed at some of the most elite venues in the UK including the London Palladium and Royal Albert Hall.

His long career also brought him the distinction of having the biggest selling single of all time in Holland and Belgium with The Strange Effect, written for him by another 60’s icon, Ray Davies of The Kinks.

Joining the line-up is Wayne Fontana, one of the many talented artists to come out of Manchester during the 1960s beat boom and a firm favourite on the Solid Silver 60s tours.

Wayne was an accomplished R&B singer and soon gained a huge following of female admirers in the north of England! With his band The Mindbenders he had hits with Hello Josephine, Um Um Um Um Um Um, Game of Love, Pamela Pamela and Come On Home.

Special guests in The Solid 60s Show are The Merseybeats, one of the true surviving bands from the Golden Age of ‘60s pop music.

Still fronted by the two original lead singers, Tony Crane and Billy Kinsley, The Merseybeats are probably one of the most genuine attractions of that golden age when Liverpool ruled both the airwaves and the charts.

With hits such as It’s The Love That Really Counts, Don’t Turn Around, Wishin’ and Hopin, I Think Of You and I Love You, Yes I Do, The Merseybeats will have you dancing in the aisles guaranteed.

The New Amen Corner, arguably the hottest band on the 60’s circuit, will offer the musical backing to help recreate so perfectly the sound and atmosphere of that momentous period when music sent good vibrations across the world.

Their power house live show has made them one of the most exciting bands around; period clothing, authentic equipment and with the band encouraging their fans to don 60’s attire, their shows really breathe life back into what must be music’s most prolific decade.

So step back in time to the swinging 60s and hear all of these classic hits performed by the original hit makers.

“The Solid Silver 60s Show” will be at the Playhouse, Weston-super-Mare, on Sunday 10 March, at 3pm & 7.45pm. Tickets priced £25, £24 and matinee £24, £23, are available on 01934 645 544 or online at http://tinyurl.com/ckzqxvr
