Set in the early 1900s, the action takes place on Prince Edward Island, an island off the coast of Nova Scotia in Canada. The story depicts life of Edwardian times in a small rural community where farming is the main occupation and gossips are the local news exchanges.
The play recounts the adventures of Anne Shirley, a young orphan girl sent to a middle-aged brother and sister who have a farm and who had intended to adopt a boy to help them. We see how Anne makes her way with the Cuthbert's, her experiences in school and the town.
The story has all the elements of life: youth, age, families, joy, sorrow, hope, disappointment, love and rivalry.
Tickets are £7.50 for adults, £6.50 for concessions (Family ticket £24,00) available from 01454 321149. Performances start at 7.30pm.
