DISCUSSIONS on all-out elections for the city council have been put back until next year.

Talks on reforming Bristol's voting system were due to be held later this year but have been rescheduled so the views of the incoming elected mayor can be taken into account from November.

At the moment residents vote for a third of the council every year for three years, with one year off.

The position of elected mayor – which would replace the current council leader – would only be up for election every four years.
