A spooky time to be looking for love in Bristol

Wednesday, October 14, 2009, 07:00

It might be considered the spookiest date in the calendar but that hasn't stopped Bristol singletons hoping they will find love at a dating event.

Grape Vine Social are launching what they claim to be the city's first secret supper club dating evening on Halloween night.

Taking place in a secret location, close to Blaise Castle, single diners will share a five-course candlelit gourmet meal in the ideal setting of the 18th-century Quaker Meeting House.

The company, which created Wine Tasting Dating nights and other singles events, said they hope this gourmet adventure will bring together up to 30 singles for a special night of mingling and tasting on October 31.

Anna Cooney, director of Grape Vine Social, said: "Our monthly wine tasting dating nights in Clifton are very popular, but we wanted to create a new experience for singles. We have teamed up with a fantastic Paris Cordon Bleu-trained cook, who has a beautiful private space for this very first secret supper club concept."

With pop-up restaurants and secret supper clubs gaining momentum, an increasing number of foodies have been opening their homes to crowds of diners seeking an original and fuss-free eating experience.

Ms Cooney said she anticipated the experience, which targets people in their 30s and 40s, will become a monthly fixture on their dating calendar.

Tickets are £39, including five courses, and they are available to book at www.grapevinesocial.com.
