1990: Following the passage of the Football Spectators Bill through the House of Commons, Derby agreed to run a pilot scheme for the controversial identity card.

2002: Sven-Goran Eriksson pledged to stay on as England manager after Football Association chief executive Adam Crozier's resignation.

2004: Liverpool striker Djibril Cisse was ruled out for the season after breaking his leg at Blackburn.
