Transfer gossip: Bristol City boss in frame for QPR job
Rangers are unhappy with coach Paulo Sousa's progress since taking over from Iain Dowie last November and are looking to demote the Portugal legend to work under a new head coach or director, according to the Daily Mirror.
Johnson has been linked with the role along with Paul Ince and MK Dons' Roberto Di Matteo despite signing a new five-year deal in September at Ashton Gate where he has overseen a dramatic transformation of fortunes.
Bristol City reached the play-off final in their first season back in the Championship last season and are still within reach of the play-off places with six games to play this time round.
QPR lie two points behind the Robins in 11th place despite their new-found riches.
Elsewhere, Dele Adebola is linked with a summer move to Sheffield Wednesday after City chairman Steve Lansdown said all contract negotiations at the club are now on hold until the end of the season.
The 33-year-old's contract expires at the end of the present Championship campaign but Lansdown has described him as a 'key player' and wants to agree a new deal to keep him at Ashton Gate.
