Swindon Town will bounce back against Crewe, says Byrne

Assistant boss David Byrne insists Swindon Town will get their survival bid back on track against Crewe next weekend after simply suffering a 'bad day at the office' at relegation rivals Yeovil on Saturday.

Town's three-game winning streak was brought to an end at Huish Park as Yeovil claimed a vital victory to end a run of eight matches without a win and aid their own battle to beat the drop.

A first-half goal from John Obika was enough to separate the two sides, currently entrenched in an eight-team battle to avoid a place in the bottom four with games running out.

Only two points separate the West rivals and Yeovil could leapfrog Swindon with a victory against Northampton tomorrow – but Byrne insisted that nobody inside the County Ground was panicking solely on the back of Saturday's reverse.

He said: "We are disappointed, but not angry. We felt that we could get the result because of how we have performed in the last few games, but it wasn't to be. The boys are upset but their heads are not down. We will put it down to a bad day of the office.

"We will dust ourselves down and get ready for Crewe because if we get three points we are back on track again. We are not panicking at all, far from it.

"We have set a benchmark for how we can perform in our last few games and if we can produce that consistently there won't be a problem. We'll just get the boys right this week and I have no doubt that we will bounce back from this disappointment."

Swindon's task was not helped by injuries to key players Hal Robson-Kanu and Sean Morrison before the break. Robson-Kanu limped away with a hamstring pull 10 minutes after Morrison suffered a nasty shin injury. Morrison was pole-axed by a robust challenge from Yeovil defender Terell Forbes when contesting a loose ball following a goalmouth scramble.

Forbes was cautioned for the reckless tackle and Byrne added: "It was a bad tackle and I was surprised it only warranted a yellow card. Sean has taken a battering on his shin. I know the boy Forbes, though, and he has not got a malicious streak in him. I'd have to see the video again before making a proper judgement on the challenge."

Both players will be assessed this morning but Morrison is expected to be doubtful to feature against Crewe.
