Full House for Bristol students' film debut

Fourteen students from the City Academy were joined by the Lord Mayor of Bristol, Councillor Chris Davies, for the first UK screening of their film Full House.

The premiere marked a year of work by students from Germany and Poland as well as England.

The 23-minute film, shown as part of the Encounters Film Festival, seeks to overcome prejudice relating to immigration and economic migration.

It tells the story of four young people who come together at a fictional hostel in Hannover, each with a different story to tell. The students met three times, once in each city, to devise, script, film, edit and finally exhibit the final film.

Bristol City Council leader, Councillor Barbara Janke, said: "This film has brought together young Europeans to examine and share their experiences about immigration and migration. The project has also enabled them to learn new skills and I hope that many schools in the city will be able to use the film ."

The project has been funded through the European Unions's Youth in Action programme with £10,000 match funding from Bristol City Council. Other funders include the Europe for Peace Programme, the Pieran Centre, Bristol International Airport, and Bristol film company Calling the Shots.
