Bristol pupil poets pen words for Festival Of Remembrance

Thursday, October 29, 2009, 07:00

Three pupils from Redland High School will hear their poppy poems read out at the Festival Of Remembrance at the Colston Hall on Saturday.

Girls at the school were inspired to write the poems after Roger Duddridge, of the Royal British Legion, led a Remembrance Assembly.

Georgia Morris, Jessie Belcher and Olivia Bailward, now in Year 7, were invited to be involved in this year's festival.

Joe Eyles, head teacher of Redland High Junior School, said: "Even quite young children can understand the horror of war and the impact that it has on families. The poems our Year 6 girls wrote were of a particularly high standard and we are absolutely thrilled that three of them will feature in the spectacular Festival of Remembrance at the Colston Hall."

The festival starts at 7pm. Tickets are £10.
