St BEDE’S is a Catholic College serving families within the Diocese of Clifton who seek for their children an excellent academic education based on Christian values, within a safe, secure and thriving institution.

It is indeed my privilege to be the Principal within this vibrant community.

“This is an outstanding school where pupils’ achievement is excellent and where their personal development and well-being are of the highest order. Spiritual and moral development lies at the heart of the school’s ethos and is a major strength.” Ofsted 2007

St Bede’s has an excellent reputation both locally and within the Diocese. In 2000 the College was awarded Beacon status by the Government in recognition of our good work, in 2004 we were designated a specialist Science College and in 2008 St Bede’s became a Sports College.

The quality of provision, coupled with excellent results secured a judgement of “Outstanding” by both Ofsted and the Diocese in 2007.

The standards achieved by pupils this year at GCSE were exceptional, every pupil left with at least 7 GCSEs and 85% of the pupils achieved at least 5A*-C grades. Our intention is to build on this performance by developing our best practice.

“This is an outstanding Catholic school where Gospel values are explicitly promoted and practised and which underpin all aspects of school life. Relationships are based on respect and shared values. Teaching and learning is outstanding overall”. Diocesan Inspection 2007

Within the College you will find a calm and industrious environment in which each child is valued, stimulated and challenged to develop his/her talents to the full, whatever the ability. We expect high standards from and for our children. They are encouraged to strive for excellence in all their activities. Achievement and effort are valued and celebrated, personal development and well-being are of the highest order.

I believe a school will thrive when all staff share the view that every child can achieve. The climate and culture of St Bede’s ensures that the standards achieved by pupils, including examination results, are exceptional, providing each child with an excellent passport to the next stage in their education.

“The Principal has secured a shared vision that every pupil should achieve highly and be nurtured in a supportive but challenging environment. This vision has inspired and driven school improvement to focus on learning.” Ofsted 2007

If what you want for your child is an outstanding education, you will be pleased with what you find at St Bede’s Catholic College.
