CTK Southside drop points but hold on to top spot

BRISTOL SUBURBAN LEAGUE: CTK Southside, last year's champions, remained top of Premier I with a 1-1 home draw against St Aldhelms.

Promoted Southmead are in second place with a 100 per cent record after a 5-1 win against bottom team Glenside 5 OB. Two goals each from captain Chris Storr and Rob Sivers, plus a Gary Booth strike, settled the outcome. Glenside's reply came from an Andy Warrant penalty.

Scott Barkley and Molami Bakota were on target for Old Georgians, who moved up to third place with a hard-fought 2-0 at win at Almondsbury Town Reserves.

Cadbury Heath Reserves won 3-1 at Stoke Gifford, while South Glos (Hambrook) triumphed 2-1 at Broad Plain.

Fishponds OB gained their first point of the season in an exciting match at Ashton United, which ended in a 3-3 draw.

Danny Yeomans and Sam Payne gave the visitors a 2-0 lead, but Ashton fought back to go 3-2 in front only for captain Pat Watson to equalise near the end.

Goals from Kanwarpreet Singh and Kadeem Sinclair, plus a man-of- the-match display by goalkeeper Mark Garbacz, clinched a 2-0 win for Premier II leaders Bristol Athletic in a lively encounter with Wessex Wanderers.

Improving Brislington A gave manager Kevin Hazell an early 40th birthday present with a 3-2 home victory over Bristol North West.

Paul Johnson opened the scoring for Brislington and two second-half goals from Shaun White sealed the points.

Second-placed Bristol Telephones had a comfortable 5-0 win at Severn Beach, while Ridings High were held at home to a 2-2 draw against struggling Almondsbury Reserves.

Imperial Saints remained top of Division I after a 4-1 win at Rockleaze Avonside Reserves. Ben Griffiths led the way with a hat-trick and Lee James was also on target from the penalty spot.

Filton Athletic had Luke Walker and an own goal to thank for a 2-2 draw at home to Easton Cowboys.

Fishponds OB Reserves halted their poor run as goals from Alastair Johnson and Josh Smith clinched a welcome 2-1 win at home to Hengrove Athletic.

Ingleside stayed top of Division II with a convincing 4-0 victory at Tyndalls Park, but second-placed CTK Southside Reserves kept up their challenge by winning 3-2 at Cartwheel Sports.

Thrissell Nomads are third after an 8-3 home win against Cadbury Heath A.

Danny Moore took the scoring honours with a hat-trick, while a Matt Evans hat-trick and a Jonjo Mkkella strike completed their tally.

Golden Hill stretched their 100 per cent record in Division III by beating BW Athletic 5-1, but Bristol County still head the table after winning by the same score at Sefton Park.

Oldbury Crusaders Reserves lead Division IV despite being held 2-2 by mid-table Wessex Wanderers.

Top scorers of the day were Parson Street OB, who demolished Knowle Rangers 12-0 in Division V, Paul Lipett netting four times and Jason Bartlett weighing in with a hat-trick.

Leaders Rockleaze Avonside A were surprisingly held 1-1 at Poker County, but Fishponds OB B retained their unbeaten record by slamming Whitchurch Reserves 8-1 at home.

Luke Taylor hit a hat-trick, while doubles from Jason Manning and Dale Mason and an own goal completed the rout.
