As David Pugh has pointed out, the picture of the dog in The Post's Matthew feature (BTFeb5) appears to be that of a boxer, or small bulldog, rather than a Talbot.

The trust is still debating whether any new figurehead for the replica ship should feature a Talbot hunting dog (as formerly) or the White Greyhound of Richmond holding a shield in the livery colours of the Welsh Tudors (white and green) and displaying a Tudor Rose.

The latter is the heraldic badge of Henry Tudor, who defeated King Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth Field in 1485.

The White Greyhound is also one of the supporters of the Royal Arms of King Henry, who granted John Cabot (Giovanni Caboto) a Royal Licence (Letters Patent) in 1496 to seek out new lands.
