What does the UK get out of it?
I AM responding to the comments about immigration from G Whittle, Kingswood, D Smith and J Hawkins.
I totally agree with G Whittle about us being a soft touch and letting thousands of immigrants in.
Everyone I talk to is against it and we have never been racist.
But we all can't understand why our money is being given away for benefits which they have not paid in for when our own people find it very hard to get any. NHS, housing, schools are all a strain for our country and charity begins at home!

Why oh why are they coming? I never understand it!
The Government is helping them and stopping helping us, especially pensioners who have paid all their lives.
We should be put first on housing etc.
A few years ago, they were closing schools because of numbers dropping and now we are bursting at the seams and doctors' surgeries too.
Please explain what our country gets out of it. Why, oh why, give our money away?
M Hill

“Migrants from outside the EU, who are spouses of UK Citizens, are not allowed to get any Benefits at all for at least the first two years in UK although they are allowed to work and pay income tax, national insurance etc. And of course their UK spouse has to earn £18,600 a year before they are allowed to even apply for their spouse to come to UK to join them. However migrants from within the EU can and do claim Benefits although migrants typically claim less than UK Citizens so they are effectively subsidising UK Citizens who are either on Benefits or the State pension.”

“Dear Mr Hill,
What does the UK get out of immigration? The one thing you highlighted as been a strain, the NHS. Over 30 per cent of doctors and 40 per cent of nurses born outside the UK so with out immigration, you wouldn't have anywhere near the capacity to look after "your own".
Also the migrant workers that do come to the UK from outside the EEA have to earn a minimum of £20k p.a. meaning they are probably contributing more tax than the typical Anglo-Saxon immigrant.
Next time, do your homework before making such a ridiculous comment.
