“Its OK. Particularly if you have a 'sea' view.
It's been described as the biggest cul-de-sac in Britain though (incompetent & corrupt council facilitated large development with no infrastructure). Theres only one road out of town. Trying to get out in the rush hour is hard than crossing the M25 on a skateboard.

“Yes, @BCC, Portishead is beautiful, in a 'Derek Jarman' kind of way.
And yes, with just the B3124/A369, if you work in Bristol, the commute can be horrendous. No train service. Also not great when the M5 backs-up.
If you are planning to commute, I would recommend a trial run during a morning rush hour, just to see if you lose the will to live.”

“Portishead use to be a small sea side town,it has grown. It has a lovely front with a lake and cafe and there are walks along coast path to clevedon. It is not a easy place to get in and out but far better than bristol.there is a nice waitrose there and other stores.”
“We are thinking of moving to Portishead but being new to this part of the UK don't know much about it. It seems pleasant enough but can anyone tell me if it is a nice place to live? Are there any major issues we should be aware of e.g. anti-social behaviour, crime etc. Many thanks.”
