“And now here it is in a legible form of English:
I think, when they repair the green outside the Council house they should ban everyone from sitting on it, as before it was disgusting see people sitting, throwing their sandwich wrappers on the grass and their cans and bottles of drinks. It **** me off that Barbara Jankins only shows her face when she thinks it will get people to like her. Her party has destroyed Bristol, selling everything she could think of but making sure Bristol became a second rate city.”

“Yes, Bristol would be much improved if the great unwashed were prohibited from spending their lunchtime lazing around on one of the centres green spaces. I suggest that if people do wish to use the area for leisure then at the very least they should be made to stand up. At gunpoint if necessary.”

“Everyone keeps on about "being green" and saving the planet's resources, then Bristol council makes all the roads more congested by installing chicanes and general road narrowing schemes, the end result being that instead of a journey taking 10 minutes from a to be, it now takes 30 minutes with the resultant increase in wasted fuel, emissions being released into the atmosphere and the stress and bad tempers that go with being stuck in a traffic jam which everyone knows shouldn't exist.
I could (and I'm sure almost every other motorist) could give examples of the kind of "planner" induced traffic jams to which I refer but they are far too numerous for this short note.
Don't even start me off about the "BUS SERVICE"!”

“Spot on ssabr09b - I'll give you an example, I drive into the city centre via Stapleton Road (bad enough in itself) but when I get to the end of Stapleton Road by the Lebeq I have to make a left turn then up to Lawrence Hill roundabout then through Old Market while buses can go straight across the dual carriageway, or even worse if I go to Easton Sports Centre I have to turn right off Stapleton Road, along Warwick Road, onto the St Pauls junction roundabout then back up the dual carriageway and turn right - work that out. Think how many people have to do the same sort of journeys around Bristol because of no entries and 'bus only' routes - extra miles, extra petrol, extra fumes, so how does that contribute to saving the planet councillors?”

“problem is - if you write really badly - some people simply won't bother to read it, as it has the danger of not making sense! As to the issue of being 'green' and the issues of traffic congestion - I wrote a detailed letter about this to the transport minister himself - but even he ignored it. No hope with our useless council then!
Occupy claim that they want to make things tidy again - yet when it came to being evicted it was clear they had already gone anyway. Hardly likely that they are going to come back now with a gardening party and put it back to how it was before. Bunch of hypocritical wasters who achieved absolutely nothing except annoying people.”

“@tiger6789 - you've out-done yourself there - that made no sense! Are you saying you went to boarding school? If so, then it is you who obviously chose not to be educated. Simply resorting to name calling doesn't make you easier to understand!!
And what happened to my previous post? It appeared - then disappeared again. This site is pretty hopeless since they 'improved' it !!”

“Although this discussion is about College Green, I am also appalled by the bad spellings and grammar.
Bear with me while I get my three pet hates off my chest.
1)People who say OF instead of the correct word HAVE ... ie could OF instead of could HAVE.
2) People who mispronounce the word OFTEN. The T is silent so pronounciation should be OFFEN.
3) People who say HAITCH instead of ( the correct spelling ) AITCH. The H is silent.
There is no excuse now there are many on line dictionaries.
Thanks for letting me vent :-)”

“Hopefully College Green will soon recover from the appalling mess left by the protesters/layabouts! ( How many actually slept on the green? not many! Were the unemployed protesters available for work? )
Maybe more rubbish bins and a few signs could be placed around the area to encourage people to put their sandwich packets etc in them.
Bristol is a lovely city ... let's enjoy it and in future the protesters should protest legally not
ruin an amenity provided, and paid for in taxes, for the citizens of Bristol.”

“Stirred up a hornets nest here!!! best not slip into moi local drawl vrum zummerzet then, 'ad oi?!! Made I laff !! - Now that's created a new thought - maybe we could plant some corn on the green and the council can invest in a combine harvester! - Thats unless a crop circle appeared in it first!”

“I have to agree with Jussme; the standard of spelling and grammar is declining markedly. It's 'she needs to loose a few pounds'; he did his 'upmost' and my personal bete noir, the Tesco self-service till that tells me my Clubcard has been 'excepted'. Cue irritated woman muttering 'it's ACCEPTED' under her breath.”
