“It's no more at risk of dying out than any other regional dialect.
Why - because people speak that way and teach their kids to speak that way.
Re: changes to social identity e.g. social orders/rankings, discrimination etc - Only because the accent makes those who speak it come across as ill-educated.” -

“I am a great believer in the use of the standardised received pronounced Oxford English accent which is easily comprehended. Otherwise we can all sound like Adge Cutler after a few jars of cider!”
