“Funny you should use "roadworks", when you're describing the work being carried out on the cycle path..
When "roadworks" are taking place, the council lay down diversions or other ways to consider how the traffic will be re-routed...
What is stupid is that there is none of that here for the cyclists, no diversion, no re-routing, no alternative...Why no temporary cycle path (made from a raised platform) over the grass. The cyclists would be happy and the grass would be saved.
Also, you're exaggerating about cyclists barging their way through.. This does not happen.. If you want to get angry at someone, get angry at the site planners here or the council, for not considering correctly how cyclists would be affected.. I see the water company has taken up more of the grass area to lay out their materials, which will further damge the grass.. What do you think about this?
btw, cyclists ARE people, just using a different form of transport.”
“*The beginning of "roadworks" on the cycling side of the path through Castle Park is showing just how selfish most cyclists are. Despite the fact that there are big yellow signs at either end of the works instructing them to dismount, they take no notice at all, either bombing straight across the grass, which is already getting torn to pieces (and will take ages to recover if they are not stopped doing this), or just barging their way through the pedestrian lane, regardless of the danger this causes to pedestrians, especially children and the elderly. It’s bad enough when they ride on the pavement in the first place, but this is just plain stupid and totally inexcusable.”
