“I wasn't being churlish. I actually quite respect the Census people. I just gave my reasons for refusing to complete the Census, because I thought I should. I don't know about wanting to find fellow commentators who agree with me. I'm quite happy to be disagreed with. In fact, I'm sure there are reasonable people who do disagree with me about the Census.
I was really just being curious about the aftermath of the whole exercise - whether anyone is being prosecuted, the compliance levels this time round and so on.”

“Exercising the right to 'Non-compliance' to me is the most important part of being a citizen in the 21st century. I too have refused to give my personal details 'freely' to our government (who sell that info at £2000 a time) . I requested that my information was to be 'purchased' and that we should have a 'business agreement' that justifies the profits and impacts that that info provides.
Im with you 100%, for too long we the people have allowed these so called "politicians" and 'private interests' to dictate how we live inside a system of their creation, completely disregarding peoples everyday lives, disregarding the peoples duty to act as "GOOD CITIZENS"
Citizen - "an inhabitant of a city or town, especially one entitled to its privileges or franchises."..”

“@Propsreal
With respect, you're not with me 100%. We agree about the Census, and I respect your method of dealing with it. But aside from the Census, I am much more comfortable with the 'System' than you are, and I consider the politicians to be by and large fairly competent people of reasonable integrity, doing a surprisingly good job of maintaining liberal-ish democracy at a time of exponential population growth.”

“@John_Name
Hi Jon, i just cant give the system and those who seek to operate within it that much respect in this day and age. Too many people are playing the game for purely selfish reasons and in that type of society one cant freely give trust to those type of people on a whim.
Regarding personal info/census, I fully understand the need for such information in a functioning society, im a student sociologist myself and would be lost if i couldn't access such data , but i also have to recognise the possible intrusions and harms due to the improper use of personal information.”

“I can agree with the sentiment questioning the necessity of the national Census but refusing to complete it seems a tad churlish. I guess it makes "refuseniks" feel better, a bit like posting comments here make me feel. And if I can find fellow commentators agreeing, I feel just that little bit better.
Ultimately no one cares but us.”
