“North Somerset Council Planning is not a democratic process and seldom looks to the future. A small handful of Councillors shout 'jump' and the rest answer 'how high'. Portishead swimming pool was also threatened with demolition by exactly the same group of councillors who now want to waste £700,000 of council tax money demolishing the Tropicana. Portishead Pool is now in the hands of a trust (much to those councillors despair) and is thriving and a great, well used facilty for residents and visitors. The only reason the Tropicana has fallen into such a poor condition has been for the same reason Portishead Pool did, lack of council mainteneance and poor council management, nothing more, nothing less. Unfortunately for the Tropicana there is a bit of a vengeful streak that dicatates policy on such establishments and even though a private consortium have offered to make the place workable again North Somerset will show their total disregard just to get their own way and flex their political muscle. It's a bit like ignorant incompetence but on a much larger scale. ... and before BEP remove this factual comment, take the time to look up the facts as this paper seldom prints them.”

“Only one small issue - Bristol City Council has no jurisdiction over the tropicana which is in North Somerset District...”
