“They don't let you comment on sex/rape cases - judging by the average level of idiocy in the comments of other stories: thats a really good idea BEP.”

“Judging by the idiocy of this entire thread, it's just as well some stories are off limits. Come on sayitoutloud, I would have thought it was painfully obvious why certain sensitive stories aren't open for comments.”

“Well that isn't/hasn't always been the case, as you would all have seen if you had looked into the matter properly in the first place. Problem, joning? I'd expect to see less chips on shoulders in an explosion at McDonalds. Good grief, remind me not to post a question on here again.”

“I think the difference of being allowed to comment and not allowed to comment is usually regarding stories on legal trials.

If the trial is still ongoing, then you are generally not allowed to comment. When the trial has finished, you are then allowed to comment.”

You mean you're an anarchist planning to bomb McDonalds? Someone call the police!”

    “Hi @sayitoutloud
as everyone has been saying, on This is Bristol if you can't comment on a story it is usually because of a legal reason - eg. an ongoing trial, where a dodgy comment could affect someone's right to a fair trial, or when someone has been arrested, for the same reason.
If you ever see a comment you think shouldn't be on a story, hit the report button and let us know.”

“Hello every one. Well this question is asked in a very smart way. We give our comment on that topic in which we get interested. How could anyone reply their comments on that topic which is not of their interest? So everyone have their own choice.”

    “@sayitoutloud

I think your question was wrong. The answer to what you asked is a simple 'yes': Yes, there are people who know why you can only comment on some articles and not others.

What you wanted and what you got was some informed comment, so I suggest you should have asked, "Please can someone explain to me why I can only comment on some articles and not others. Also, if I use profanity diguised in popular text speak, is that likely to breach the rules for posting comments on this site?"”
