He has pleaded not guilty to two indecent assaults of a child aged under seven and two sexual assaults of a child aged under 13 relating to another girl.
Anna Vigars, prosecuting, told the jury Dyer pulled down the first girl's jeans before kissing her and rubbing cream or oil on her chest.
Mrs Vigars said the pensioner also rubbed himself against the second child for sexual gratification.
Dyer told the jury he was not guilty of molesting the girls. He said he was never alone with the first complainant and denied inappropriately touching her in the way alleged.
He told the court: "I definitely didn't rub Olbas oil (a decongestant) into her. I kept Olbas oil handy for my wife – it is in an inhaler."
Earlier the mother of one complainant told the jury she took her daughter on a drive and asked if Dyer had abused her.
The mother said: "She said she didn't want to think about it.
"She said she needed more time and then I took her home."
The woman said she spoke to her daughter at home, and again the youngster said she did not want to talk about the subject.
She told the jury: "I said sometimes children are a little bit frightened and don't have the courage to say what happened.
"I said sometimes you can't say the words. I asked her if Victor Dyer touched her, her eyes welled up and she started crying and said 'yes'."
