Do you deliver to the Sudan? Sure, why not!
A TAKEAWAY owner has sent a curry on a 3,000-mile trip to feed UN troops craving a meal from their favourite restaurant.
Abdul Gaffar, 40, has sent 20 cartons of his curry to a small army of soldiers serving in Sudan after hearing that one of his regular customers was missing his Friday night treat.
Abdul, who owns Bombay Nights takeaway in Brentry, arranged for the curries to be sent to the troops on a peacekeeping mission in the African country. And his favourite customer, First Private Haseem Ali, is looking forward to a taste of home even though the troops are stationed more than 3,100 miles outside the restaurant's delivery area.
Abdul said: "Haseem is a good friend of mine.

"He comes in for a curry at least once a week when he's at home.
"He sent a fax to the restaurant saying he wanted to order one of my curries for all his comrades. I don't think he expected me to take it seriously, but I thought it was a great idea – it's an honour for me to feed our brave boys and girls serving in the army. I cooked up a selection of our best curries, and the army has helped me to arrange to get them out there.
"They have been frozen, and will then go straight on an army plane, with post for soldiers, direct to the troops. I'm sure the army cooks do a great job, but I'm sure they'll enjoy a night off and love a takeaway as a treat. I normally only deliver food within five miles of my restaurant, but I sometimes make an exception for special customers."

“Since when has Kindness and goodwill been a Puplicity stunt...? Some very sad people in the world if that's what you think when somebody does something nice!! Wonder if the service personnel that recieved it for all the hard work they put in think so....”

“Not this old stunt! I've lost count of how many times I've read just the same story before in The Post. Nothing else happening in the world you might like to use your available column inches to report?
I am now boycotting Bombay Nights in Brentry.”
