On this day
1923: Bolton and West Ham contested the first FA Cup final at Wembley. Official receipts gave the attendance as 126,047, but it is estimated that more than 200,000 were in the ground. A single policeman on a white horse famously kept the crowd back from the pitch. Bolton won the game 2-0.
1984: Clive Lloyd became the first West Indian to play in 100 Test matches as the fifth Test against Australia got under way in Jamaica.
